Implicit in the earning of the APS (Accredited Platform Specialist) certification is that the candidates have apprentice knowledge remedial maintenance for the purpose of restoring consumer and business class hardware to operational levels.

What are the compulsory exams to earn credit towards this certification?
You need to do the HP exam(s) required to earn AIS certification. Because there are different tracks in the certification, there can be different exams for the different tracks. For example:

The exam that is required is the APS - HP Commercial Desktops, Workstations and Notebooks track is the HP HP2-896 Servicing HP Desktops, Workstations and Notebooks exam.

The exam that is required is the APS - HP Smart Desktop Service [2005] track is the HP HP2-033 Supporting HP Smart Desktop Service exam.

The exam that is required is the APS - ProCurve Networking [2004] track is the HP HP2-964 Installation and Service of HP ProCurve Devices exam.

In preparation for this exam candidates are advised to also do the training course Designing for HP Technical Solutions (DHPTS). (Please note that the training course is a recommendation.) This training course is available from HP Bootcamp.

What can be done in terms of Recertification for APS?
The certification validity period is indefinitelythree years. Recertification will thus not be required.
